The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Rebecca S. Murray Supervisor of Records November 30, 2021 SPR21/3022 Priya Tahiliani Superintendent Everett Public Schools 121 Vine Street Everett, MA 02149 Dear Superintendent Tahiliani: I have received the petition of Steven Fitzgerald appealing the nonresponse of the Everett Public Schools (School) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On October 5, 2021, Mr. Fitzgerald requested, “[a] copy of all emails and texts messages sent and received from Everett School Committee … to each member of the Everett School Committee and the Administration of the Everett School Department from January 1, 2021, until October 5, 2021.” Claiming to not yet have received a response, Mr. Fitzgerald petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR21/3022, was opened as a result. Despite being notified of the opening of this appeal and a communication from a member of the Public Records Division staff, it remains unclear whether the School has provided a response. Accordingly, the School is ordered to provide Mr. Fitzgerald with a response to the request, provided in a manner consistent with this order, the Public Records Law and its Regulations within 10 business days. A copy of any such response must be provided to this office. It is preferable to send an electronic copy of this response to this office at pre@sec.state.ma.us.
