Murray Supervisor of Records November 18, 2021 SPR21/3029 Stephen Roche, Esq. Third Associate City Solicitor City of Springfield 36 Court Street Springfield, MA 01103 Dear Attorney Roche: I have received the petition of Jynai McDonald appealing the response of the City of Springfield (City) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On November 9, 2021, Jynai McDonald requested “. . . the body camera video of the officer who worked at the Rebecca Johnson polling location on November 2, 2021 and the officer who responded to the request for more increased presence at the Rebecca Johnson Polling location . . .” The City provided a response on November 12, 2021, requesting an extension of time to respond to the request. Unsatisfied with the City’s response, Jynai McDonald petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR21/3029, was opened as result. Subsequently, in an email correspondence on November 16, 2021, a representative from the City notified this office that the City intends to provide a response to Jynai McDonald. Accordingly, the City is ordered to provide Jynai McDonald with a response to the request, provided in a manner consistent with this order, the Public Records Law and its Regulations within ten (10) business days. A copy of any such response must be provided to this office. It is preferable to send an electronic copy of this response to this office at pre@sec.state.ma.us. Jynai McDonald may appeal the substantive nature of the City’s response within ninety days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Sincerely, Rebecca S.
