The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Rebecca S. Murray Supervisor of Records December 8, 2021 SPR21/3107 Tracy Parker Executive Assistant to the Superintendent & School Committee Georgetown Public Schools 51 North Street Georgetown, MA 01833 Dear Ms. Parker: I have received the petition of Kevin Wood appealing the response of the Georgetown Public Schools (School) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On November 10, 2021, Mr. Wood requested “a copy of the school committee package for the 10/21/2021 meeting [and] a copy of draft minutes for that meeting.” The School responded on November 10, 2021, providing responsive records. On November 11, 2021, Mr. Wood advised the School that he believed the records to be “incorrect or incomplete” and asked the School to “provide the packet reflected by the revised agenda.” The School responded on November 24, 2021, indicating it would require an extension of time to produce responsive records. Unsatisfied with the School’s response, Mr. Wood appealed, and this case was opened as a result. Current Appeal In his appeal petition, Mr. Wood contends the following: The package was incorrect or incomplete. An incorrect and obsolete agenda was included. The documents provided did not align with the posted agenda. There appeared to be a mix up. The draft minutes stated an executive session was held. No agenda stated an executive session for that purpose. Conclusion Based on a phone conversation between this office and an attorney for the School on December 3 and December 7, 2021, I understand that the School intends to provide a supplemental response. Accordingly, said response must be provided to Mr. Wood in a manner One Ashburton Place, Room 1719, Boston, Massachusetts 02108 • (617) 727-2832• Fax: (617) 727-5914 sec.state.ma.us/pre • pre@sec.state.ma.us Tracy Parker SPR21/3107 Page 2 December 8, 2021 consistent with the Public Records Law and its regulations within ten business days. It is preferable to send an electronic copy of the response to this office at pre@sec.state.ma.us. If issues remain unresolved, Mr. Wood may appeal the substantive nature of the School’s response within ninety days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Sincerely, Rebecca S.
