The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Rebecca S. Murray Supervisor of Records January 12, 2022 SPR22/0030 Steven Treat, Esq. Records Access Officer Department of Children and Families 600 Washington Street Boston, MA 02210 Dear Attorney Treat: I have received the petition of Lucas Newbill, Esq. appealing the response of the Department of Children and Families (Department) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66 § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On December 28, 2021, Attorney Newbill requested, “all communications between [a named Department employee] and the Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office concerning and/or referencing [Attorney Newbill’s client], subject father in [an identified case with the Department.” The Department provided a response on January 5, 2022. Unsatisfied with that response, Attorney Newbill petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR22/0030, was opened as a result. Subsequently, the Department provided a supplemental response to Attorney Newbill. Accordingly, I will consider this administrative appeal closed. Attorney Newbill may appeal the substantive nature of the Department's response within ninety days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Sincerely, Rebecca S. Murray Supervisor of Records cc: Lucas Newbill, Esq.
