G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On December 22, 2021, Mr. Jones requested an original copy of a particular police report. On December 28, 2021, the Department provided a redacted version of the report pursuant to Exemptions (c) and (f) of the Public Records Law. Unsatisfied with the Department’s response, Mr. Jones petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR22/0228, was opened as a result. Subsequently, I learned that the Department informed a staff attorney in the Public Records Division that they intend on providing a supplemental response. Accordingly, the Department is ordered to provide Mr. Jones with a written response in accordance with the Public Records Law, its Regulations, and this order within ten business days. It is preferable to send an electronic copy of this response to this office at pre@sec.state.ma.us. Mr. Jones may appeal the substantive nature of the Department’s response within ninety days.
