The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Rebecca S. Murray Supervisor of Records February 22, 2022 SPR22/0332 Shawn A. Williams, Esq. Director of Public Records City of Boston 1 City Hall Square, Room 615 Boston, MA 02201 Dear Attorney Williams: I have received the petition of Andrew Ryan of the Boston Globe appealing the response of the City of Boston (City) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On August 27, 2021, Mr. Ryan requested the assignment history and all internal affairs files for a list of 14 Boston Police Officers. The City responded on September 2, 2021; September 9, 2021 and again on January 11, 2022, providing records, and withholding and redacting others. Unsatisfied with the City’s response, Mr. Ryan appealed, and this case was opened as a result. Based on an email from the City to this office and Mr. Ryan on February 11, 2022, I understand that the City intends to provide a supplemental response to Mr. Ryan. Accordingly, said response must be provided in a manner consistent with the Public Records Law and its regulations within ten business days. It is preferable to send an electronic copy of the response to this office at pre@sec.state.ma.us. If issues remain unresolved, Mr. Ryan may appeal the substantive nature of the City’s response within ninety days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Sincerely, ,, . . I , - - ~ - . Rebecca S.
