The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Rebecca S. Murray Supervisor of Records March 31, 2022 SPR22/0641 Nancy Blackmer Town Clerk Town of Orange 6 Prospect Street Orange, MA 01364 Dear Ms. Blackmer: I have received the petition of Denise Andrews appealing the response of the Town of Orange (Town) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On January 10, 2022, Ms. Andrews requested various documents on the hiring of a named position for the Town. Prior appeal The responsive records were the subject of a prior appeal. See SPR22/0352 Determination of the Supervisor of Records (February 24, 2022). I closed my February 24th determination finding that the Town intended on providing a supplemental response to Ms. Andrews. On March 3, 2022, the Town responded. Unsatisfied with the response, Ms. Andrews petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR22/0641, was opened as a result. Based upon a conversation between a Public Records Division staff attorney and a Town representative, it is my understanding that the Town intends on providing a subsequent response to Ms. Andrews. Accordingly, the Town is ordered to provide Ms. Andrews with a response to her request in a manner consistent with the Public Records Law and its Access Regulations within 10 business days. It is preferable to send an electronic copy of this response to this office at pre@sec.state.ma.us. Ms. Andrews may appeal the substantive nature of the Town's response within ninety days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1).
