The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Rebecca S. Murray Supervisor of Records April 22, 2022 SPR22/0864 Janelle M. Hardiman Records Access Officer Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs & Business Regulation 501 Boylston Street, Suite 5100 Boston, MA 02116 Dear Ms. Hardiman: I have received the petition of Ryan Kath, of NBC Boston, appealing the response of the Office of Consumer Affairs & Business Regulation (Office) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On March 15, 2022, Mr. Kath requested, “… a copy of the database of Home Improvement Contractor (HIC) registrations. This should include, but not be limited to, registrant name, responsible individual, registration number, registration status, expiration date.” The Office responded on April 5, 2022. Unsatisfied with the response, Mr. Kath petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR22/0864, was opened as a result. Subsequently, I learned that the Office provided a further response on April 21, 2022. Where the basis of this appeal was opened as a result of the Office’s April 5th response, I will now consider this administrative appeal closed. Mr. Kath may appeal the substantive nature of the Office’s response within ninety (90) days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Sincerely, Rebecca S.
