The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Rebecca S. Murray Supervisor of Records May 4, 2022 SPR22/1034 Lt. Terence McDonnell Quincy Police Department 1 Sea Street Quincy, MA 02169 Dear Lt. McDonnell: I have received the petition of James Murphy appealing the nonresponse of the Quincy Police Department (Department) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On April 15, 2022, Mr. Murphy requested copies of all “…paperwork… reports… witness statements… video footage regarding the citizen complaints of police misconduct.” Claiming to not yet have received responsive records, Mr. Murphy petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR22/1034, was opened as a result. Subsequently, I learned that the Department provided Mr. Murphy with a response dated May 3, 2022. Where the basis of this appeal was opened as a result of the Department’s lack of written response, I will now consider this administrative appeal closed. Mr. Murphy may appeal the substantive nature of the Department’s response within ninety (90) days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Sincerely, Rebecca S.
