The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Rebecca S. Murray Supervisor of Records July 8, 2022 SPR22/1470 Allison Mondello Massachusetts State Police 470 Worcester Road Framingham, MA 01702 Dear Ms. Mondello: I have received the petition of Craig Shibley appealing the nonresponse of the Massachusetts State Police (Department) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On June 9, 2022, Mr. Shibley requested: 1) Assignment histories [updated] for the [named persons]; 2) The current organizational chart of the Department's Unresolved Cases Unit [UCU]; 3) Any additions to the UCU since 7/07/21? If so, provide each trooper's name, assigned DAO, related job posting and applications; 4) Assignment history of any new member of the UCU [since 7/07/21]; 5) The assigned DAO email accounts of all current UCU members; 6) The number of cold cases activated by the UCU since its formation [10/2019]; 7) Organizational chart of the Worcester SPDU. Claiming to not yet have received responsive records, Mr. Shibley petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR22/1470, was opened as a result. Despite being notified of the opening of this appeal, it remains unclear whether the Department has provided a response. As such, the Department is ordered to provide Mr. Shibley with a response to his request, provided in a manner consistent with this order, the Public Records Law and its Access Regulations within ten (10) business days. A copy of any such response must be provided to this office. Mr. Shibley may appeal the substantive nature of the Department’s response within ninety (90) days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1).
