The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Rebecca S. Murray Supervisor of Records August 1, 2022 SPR22/1653 Lieutenant Glen Jackson Taunton Police Department 23 Summer Street Taunton, MA 02780 Dear Lieutenant Jackson: I have received the petition of Erin Stewart, of Citizens for Juvenile Justice, appealing the nonresponse of the Taunton Police Department (Department) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On May 12, 2022, Ms. Stewart requested an extract of records management system or database that includes each school-related arrest and each referral to law enforcement conducted for a specific time period. Claiming to have not received responsive records, Ms. Stewart petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR22/1653, was opened as a result. Subsequently, I learned that the Department intends to provide a response to this request. Accordingly, the Department is ordered to provide Ms. Stewart with a response to the request, provided in a manner consistent with this order, the Public Records Law and its Regulations within ten (10) business days. A copy of any such response must be provided to this office. It is preferable to send an electronic copy of this response to this office at pre@sec.state.ma.us. Ms. Stewart may appeal the substantive nature of the Department’s response within ninety days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1).
