The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records July 26, 2022 SPR22/1661 Kate Silvia Director of Communications Massachusetts Department of Correction 50 Maple Street Milford, MA 01757 Dear Ms. Silvia: I have received the petition of Emory Snell, Jr. appealing the nonresponse of the Department of Correction (Department) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On May 3, 2022, Mr. Snell requested seven (7) categories of records concerning the Department’s policies and staff. Claiming to not yet have received a response, Mr. Snell petitioned this office, and this appeal, SPR22/1661, was opened as a result. Subsequently, I learned that the Department provided Mr. Snell with a response dated July 20, 2022. Where the basis of this appeal was opened as a result of the Department’s lack of a written response, I will now consider this administrative appeal closed. Mr. Snell may appeal the substantive nature of the Department’s response within ninety days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Sincerely, Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records cc: Emory Snell, Jr. One Ashburton Place, Room 1719, Boston, Massachusetts 02108 • (617) 727-2832• Fax: (617) 727-5914 sec.state.ma.us/pre • pre@sec.state.ma.us
