Williams, Sr. appealing the response of the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office (Office) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Mr. Williams requested a complete copy of his case file. On May 31, 2022, the Office provided Mr. Williams with a response indicating that it will locate the files, review the documents and send all the non-exempt documents to Mr. Williams on a rolling basis. On July 27, 2022, Mr. Williams petitioned the Supervisor of Records (Supervisor), and this appeal was opened as a result. Based on a conversation between a Public Records Division member of the legal staff and an Office representative, it is my understanding that the Office has provided Mr. Williams with the transcripts, and is still in the process of reviewing multiple boxes of responsive records. The Office intends to provide the records on a rolling basis. The Office should provide Mr. Williams with a further update, and a timeline for providing the records. See G. L. c. 66, § 10(a) (records must be provided without unreasonable delay). Conclusion Accordingly, the Office is ordered to provide Mr. Williams with a response to his request in a manner consistent with the Public Records Law, and its Regulations within ten (10) business days. A copy of any such response must be provided to this office. It is preferable to send an electronic copy of the response to this office at pre@sec.state.ma.us.
