Deree Town Clerk Town of Weymouth 75 Middle Street Weymouth, MA 02189 Dear Ms. Deree: I have received the petition of Gerard Mackin appealing the response of the Town of Weymouth (Town) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On August 18, 2022, Mr. Mackin requested, “…all documents related to the receipt by the Town of funds from the Federal Government related to … funds for covid.” The Town responded on August 23, 2022. Unsatisfied with the response, Mr. Mackin petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR22/1967, was opened as a result. Based upon a conversation between a Public Records Division senior attorney and a Town representative, it is my understanding that the Town intends on providing a further response to Mr. Mackin. Accordingly, the Town is ordered to provide Mr. Mackin with said response in a manner consistent with this order, the Public Records Law and its Regulations within 10 business days. It is preferable to send an electronic copy of this response to this office at pre@sec.state.ma.us. Mr. Mackin may appeal the substantive nature of the Town’s response within ninety days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1).
