The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records September 29, 2022 SPR22/2124; SPR22/2125 Kathleen A. Deree Town Clerk Town of Weymouth 75 Middle Street Weymouth, MA 02189 Dear Kathleen Deree: I have received the petition of Gerard Mackin appealing the nonresponses of the Town of Weymouth (Town) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On August 26, 2022, Mr. Mackin requested “… all documents establishing the good faith basis for claiming the need for redactions and the legal exemptions on which the right to redact is based.” Claiming to not yet have received a response, Mr. Mackin petitioned this office and these appeals, SPR22/2124 and SPR22/2125, were opened as a result. Subsequently, I learned that the Town provided a response dated September 28, 2022. The response will be provided separately to Mr. Mackin. Where the basis of this appeal was opened as a result of the Town’s lack of a written response, I will now consider this administrative appeal closed. Mr. Mackin may appeal the substantive nature of the Town’s response within ninety (90) days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Sincerely, Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records cc: Gerard Mackin Marsha Geronaitis One Ashburton Place, Room 1719, Boston, Massachusetts 02108 • (617) 727-2832• Fax: (617) 727-5914 sec.state.ma.us/pre • pre@sec.state.ma.us
