The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records November 17, 2022 SPR22/2429 Christine M. Wilda Associate Chancellor for Compliance University of Massachusetts, Amherst 340 Whitmore Building 181 President’s Drive Amherst, MA 01003 Dear Ms. Wilda: I have received the petition of Joel Inbody appealing the response of University of Massachusetts, Amherst (UMass) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On August 26, 2022, Mr. Inbody requested numerous records and emails in 2018 and 2019. Previous appeal This request was the subject of a previous appeal. See SPR22/2091 Determination of the Supervisor of Records (September 23, 2022). UMass responded on October 25, 2022. Unsatisfied with the response, Mr. Inbody petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR22/2429, was opened as a result. Based upon a conversation between a Public Records Division senior attorney and a UMass representative, it is my understanding that UMass intends on providing a further response to Mr. Inbody. Accordingly, UMass is ordered to provide Mr. Inbody with said response in a manner consistent with this order, the Public Records Law and its Regulations within ten (10) business days. It is preferable to send an electronic copy of this response to this office at pre@sec.state.ma.us. Mr. Inbody may appeal the substantive nature of UMass’ response within ninety (90) days.
