The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records November 14, 2022 SPR22/2468; SPR22/2544 Kathleen A. Deree Town Clerk Town of Weymouth 75 Middle Street Weymouth, MA 02189 Dear Ms. Deree: I have received the petitions of Gerard Mackin appealing the nonresponse of the Town of Weymouth (Town) to requests for public records. G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On October 9, 2022, Mr. Mackin requested, “… all public documents regarding my complaint to the WPD on 2-16 22 about [a named individual] … [including] all reports by the responding officer including any conversation with [named individual] and all communications with other police officers …” Claiming to not yet have received responsive records, Mr. Mackin petitioned this office on October 31, 2022 and again on November 8, 2022, and these appeals, SPR22/2468 and SPR22/2544, were opened as a result. Subsequently, I learned that the Town provided a further response on November 14, 2022. Where the basis of this appeal was opened as a result of the Town’s lack of a written response, I will now consider these administrative appeals closed. Mr. Mackin may appeal the substantive nature of the Town’s response within ninety (90) days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Mr. Mackin is advised that to obtain a response to a public records request from the Town, the request must be forwarded to this email address townclerk@weymouth.ma.us.
