The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records February 21, 2023 SPR23/0300 Courtney Almeida, Esq. Assistant District Attorney Bristol County District Attorney’s Office 218 South Main Street Fall River, MA 02721 Dear Attorney Almeida: On February 14, 2023, this office received your petition on behalf of the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office (Office) requesting permission to charge for time spent segregating and/or redacting responsive records. G. L. 66, § 10(d)(iv); see also 950 C.M.R. 32.06(4). As required by law, the Office furnished a copy of this petition to the requestor. G. L. c. 66, § 10(d)(iv). On January 31, 2023, Laura Crimaldi, of The Boston Globe, requested “[r]eports about investigations that were completed between Jan. 1, 2021 and Jan. 31, 2023 and didn’t result in criminal charges.” In an email to Ms. Crimaldi and this office dated February 20, 2023, the Office stated, “I am just confirming the withdrawal of your request to this office dated January 31, 2023.” In an email dated February 20, 2023, Ms. Crimaldi replied, “Understood. Thank you.” Conclusion In light of the above, it is unnecessary to opine on the Office’s petition seeking permission to charge for time spent segregating or redacting responsive records.
