The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records March 6, 2023 SPR23/0341 Shawn A. Williams, Esq. Director of Public Records Records Access Officer City of Boston One City Hall Square Boston, MA 02201 Dear Attorney Williams: I have received the petition of Christopher Huffaker appealing the nonresponse of the Boston Public Schools (School) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On January 4, 2023, Mr. Huffaker requested, “[a] log of accounts payable financial transactions for the first two quarters of the 2023 fiscal year, July 1 to Dec. 31, 2022, in a form as a check register or electronic transaction report, with information including payment status, payee name, payment date, invoice date, invoice description and invoice amount.” Claiming to not yet have received responsive records, Mr. Huffaker petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR23/0341, was opened as a result. Subsequently, I learned that the School provided Mr. Huffaker with a response dated February 23, 2023. Where the basis of this appeal was opened as a result of the School’s lack of a written response, I will now consider this administrative appeal closed. Mr. Huffaker may appeal the substantive nature of the School’s response within ninety (90) days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Sincerely, Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records cc: Christopher Huffaker One Ashburton Place, Room 1719, Boston, Massachusetts 02108 • (617) 727-2832• Fax: (617) 727-5914 sec.state.ma.us/pre • pre@sec.state.ma.us
