The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records May 10, 2023 SPR23/0846 Officer John V. Barnes, Jr. Records Access Officer New Bedford Police Department 871 Rockdale Ave New Bedford, MA 02740 Dear Officer Barnes: I have received the petition of Anastasia E. Lennon, of The New Bedford Light, appealing the nonresponse of the City of New Bedford Police Department (Department) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On April 5, 2023, Ms. Lennon requested the new dataset provided by the department to the POST Commission. Claiming to not yet have received responsive records, Ms. Lennon petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR23/0846, was opened as a result. Subsequently, I learned that a representative from the Department intends on providing a written response to Ms. Lennon. Accordingly, the Department is ordered to provide Ms. Lennon with said response in accordance with the Public Records Law, its Regulations and this order within ten business days. A copy of any such response must be provided to this office. It is preferable to send an electronic copy of this response to this office at pre@sec.state.ma.us. Ms. Lennon may appeal the substantive nature of the Department’s response within ninety days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Sincerely, Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records cc: Anastasia E.
