Director of Public Records Records Access Officer City of Boston One City Hall Square Boston, MA 02201 Dear Attorney Williams: I have received the petition of Colman Herman appealing the response of the Boston Public Schools (School) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On April 12, 2023 Mr. Herman requested, “… copies of any and all communications related to my efforts to obtain an interview with Superintendent ... regarding sexual misconduct, bullying, and other equity matters at BPS.” The School responded on May 4, 2023. Unsatisfied with the School’s response, Mr. Herman petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR23/0909, was opened as a result. Subsequently, I learned that the School provided a further response to Mr. Herman on May 10, 2023. Where the basis of this appeal was opened as a result of the School’s May 4th response, I will now consider this administrative appeal closed. Mr. Herman may appeal the substantive nature of the School’s May 10th response within ninety (90) days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1).
