The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records June 26, 2023 SPR23/1434 Alexandra Hayden Chelmsford Police Department Records Access Officer 2 Olde North Road Chelmsford, MA 01824 Dear Ms. Hayden: On June 22, 2023, this office received your petition on behalf of the Chelmsford Police Department (Department) seeking permission to charge for time spent segregating or redacting responsive records. G. L. c. 66, § 10(d)(iv). As required by law, it is my understanding that the Department furnished a copy of this petition to the requestor. G. L. c. 66, § 10(d)(iv). On June 16, 2023, Jennifer Melendez requested, “all copies of police reports for 2019 and 2023 involving [a named individual].” In an email dated June 22, 2021, Ms. Melendez states, “I am all set with the records. Thank you. I… don’t need them anymore.” Conclusion In light of the above, it is unnecessary to opine on the Department’s petition to charge for time spent segregating or redacting responsive records, and I will consider this case closed. Sincerely, Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records cc: Jennifer Melendez One Ashburton Place, Room 1719, Boston, Massachusetts 02108 • (617) 727-2832• Fax: (617) 727-5914 sec.state.ma.us/pre • pre@sec.state.ma.us
