The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records July 19, 2023 SPR23/1631 Laura Machado Records Access Officer Bridgewater State University Office of the President 131 Summer Street Bridgewater, MA 02325 Dear Ms. Machado: I have received the petition of David Jeswald appealing the nonresponse of Bridgewater State University (University) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On May 12, 2023, Mr. Jeswald requested the following records that pertain to the University’s Psychology Department’s faculty member involved in research with students and research lab use from 2022 to the current date: [1.] All content regarding but not limited to the Psychology Department faculty involvement with regards to the use of the Research lab. [2.] Any Psychology Department faculty’s mentoring of students of 2022 and 2023. [3.] A list of Psychology Department faculty members currently mentoring students with regards to research. [4.] A comprehensive list of the number of students being currently and previously mentored… [5.] For each Psychology Department faculty member, an itemized list of the way the decision-making process was carried out for the selecting of students selected to be mentored, assisted, or volunteers. [6.] A current list of Psychology Department faculty members involved in research or the research lab with available spots available for students in 2022 and 2023. [7.] A list of Psychology Department faculty members involved in research that sought to fill vacant or available spots or any such openings and opportunities available for students in 2022 and 2023 and when those spots were available and when they were filled. Claiming to not yet have received a response, Mr. Jeswald petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR23/1631, was opened as a result. Where this appeal was opened as a result of the University’s lack of a written response, I will now consider this administrative appeal closed.
