The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records August 24, 2023 SPR23/1874 Jeremy Saint Laurent, Esq. First Associate City Solicitor Law Department City of Springfield 36 Court Street, Room 210 Springfield, MA 01103 Dear Attorney Saint Laurent: I have received the petition of Patrick J. Mason appealing the response of the City of Springfield (City) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On July 24, 2023, Mr. Mason requested, “911 Calls for Springfield Police report 21- 4933AC as well as the call log.” The City provided responses on July 25, 2023 and August 3, 2023, that included responsive records with redactions pursuant to Exemptions (a) and (c) of the Public Records Law. G. L. c. 4, § 7(26) (a), (c). Unsatisfied with the City’s responses, Mr. Mason petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR23/1874, was opened as a result. Subsequently, I learned that the City responded to Mr. Mason’s request with a further response sent on August 17, 2023. Where this appeal was opened as a result of the City’s July 25th and August 3rd responses, I will now consider this administrative appeal closed. Mr. Mason may appeal the substantive nature of the City’s August 17th response within ninety days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Sincerely, Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records cc: Patrick J.
