The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records September 21, 2023 SPR23/2159 Adam D. Lamontagne, MPA, MCPPO Town Administrator Town of Templeton Town Hall, Room 6 P.O. Box 620 160 Patriots Road East Templeton, MA 01438 Dear Mr. Lamontagne: I have received the petition of Robert May appealing the response of the Town of Templeton (Town) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On September 9, 2023, Mr. May requested “… an [e]lectronic [c]opy of the meeting minutes at which the [Town’s] Select [B]oard voted to create an Official Town social media site on Facebook!” The Town provided a response on September 11, 2023. Unsatisfied with the Town’s response, Mr. May petitioned the Supervisor of Records and this appeal was opened. Subsequent to the opening of this appeal, the Town Administrator informed Mr. May in a September 11th email, “[m]y apologies. I thought you were requesting the social media policy and when it was approved. I have added the policy [on the following link]. I am not aware of any particular vote of the [Town’s] Select Board approving Facebook as our social media page.” In a September 12, 2023 email to an attorney in the Public Records Division, Mr. May informed this office, “…[t]hank you for your prompt response, but I believe the matter has been dealt with satisfactorily at this time.” Accordingly, I will consider this administrative appeal closed.
