Director of Public Records Records Access Officer City of Boston 1 City Hall Square, Room 615 Boston, MA 02201 Dear Attorney Williams: I have received the petition of Romy Verdieu appealing the nonresponse of the City of Boston (City) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On July 31, 2023, Ms. Verdieu requested the following records pertaining to the East Boston Library: 1. Any communications between library staff or between library staff and third parties regarding library events on August 5th, including any communications about my request to host an event on that day. 2. Any communications between library staff or between library staff and third parties, including the American Library Association, regarding [a namedindividual’]s ‘See you at the Library’ event on August 5th. 3. Any policy or contract that the library believes they would be violating if they allowed my event on August 5th. Claiming to not yet have received a response, Ms. Verdieu petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR23/2182, was opened as a result. Subsequently, I learned the City provided a response to Ms. Verdieu on September 15, 2023. Where this appeal was opened as a result of the City’s lack of a written response, I will now consider this administrative appeal closed. Ms. Verdieu may appeal the substantive nature of the City’s September 15th response within 90 days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1).
