Director of Public Records Records Access Officer City of Boston 1 City Hall Square, Room 615 Boston, MA 02201 Dear Attorney Williams: I have received petitions of Marina Villeneuve, of Boston 25 News-WFXT, appealing the nonresponse of the Boston Police Department (Department) to requests for public records. See G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). SPR23/2527 On September 6, 2023, Ms. Villeneuve requested “...a copy of the investigation into the officer who was driving [an identified City official] at the time of the June 6 crash in Hyde Park.” SPR23/2528 On August 30, 2023, Ms. Villeneuve requested “... body camera footage of [three identified officers] at the Boston Carnival J’Ouvert Festival at 15 Talbot Avenue in Dorchester on Saturday August 26, 2023.” Claiming to not yet have received responsive records, Ms. Villeneuve petitioned this office and these appeals, SPR23/2527 and SPR23/2528, were opened as a result. Despite being notified of the opening of these appeals, it remains unclear whether the Department has provided a response. Accordingly, the Department is ordered to provide Ms. Villeneuve with a response to her requests, provided in a manner consistent with this order, the Public Records Law and its Regulations within ten (10) business days. A copy of any such response must be provided to this office. It is preferable to send an electronic copy of the response to this office at pre@sec.state.ma.us.
