The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records November 21, 2023 SPR23/2717 Debra A. Gremo Town Clerk Town of Wareham 54 Marion Road Wareham, MA 02571 Dear Ms. Gremo: I have received the petition of Brenda Eckstrom, appealing the response of the Town of Wareham (Town) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On October 9, 2023, Ms. Eckstrom requested “... all work orders, scheduled maintenance, or maintenance completed on any granite benches completed … in the last 10 years.” The Town responded on October 11, 2023. Unsatisfied with the Town’s response, Ms. Eckstrom modified her request on October 11, 2023, and further modified her request on October 24, 2023, to amend the word cement to granite as follows: [1.] The number of employees who work doing the maintenance…. [2.] The names of the employees who work doing maintenance in the Municipal Maintenance Department…. [3.] Number of employees required to go to work together to accomplish a task whether by union contract or law…. [4.] The number of granite benches and locations not in any cemeteries… [5.] Number of granite benches in cemeteries…. [6.] List of [c]omplaints of broken granite benches and municipal maintenance repair log for broken granite benches [for the] past 10 years…. One Ashburton Place, Room 1719, Boston, Massachusetts 02108 • (617) 727-2832• Fax: (617) 727-5914 sec.state.ma.us/pre • pre@sec.state.ma.us

Debra A. Gremo SPR23/2717 Page 2 November 21, 2023 [7.] Acknowledgment if Municipal Maintenance weedwhacks and mows around granite benches that have no grass around them, and if not … the semi-weekly maintenance they commit to these benches…. [8.] What days are the granite benches weed whacked and mowed during the week. Unsatisfied with the Town’s response, Ms. Eckstrom petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR23/2717 was opened as a result. Subsequently, I learned the Town provided a further response to Ms. Eckstrom on November 14, 2023. Where this appeal was opened as a result of the Town’s October 11th response, I will now consider this administrative appeal closed. Ms. Eckstrom may appeal the substantive nature of the Town’s November 14th response within 90 days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Sincerely, Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records cc: Brenda Eckstrom Derek Sullivan
