Director of Public Records City of Boston 1 City Hall Square, Room 615 Boston, MA 02201 Dear Attorney Williams: I have received the petition of Mike Beaudet, of WCVB Channel 5 Boston, appealing the response of the City of Boston (City) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On September 28, 2023, Mr. Beaudet requested the following: [1.] Number of housing lottery units that have been sold in Boston from January 1, 2020 to present and the building addresses [2.] Number of city employees who have won housing lotteries to buy properties from January 1, 2020 to present [3.] Number of relatives of city employees who have won housing lotteries to buy properties from January 1, 2020 to present[.] The City responded on October 13, 2023, indicating it would require additional time “to review and process [Mr. Beaudet’s] request.” Having received no further response, Mr. Beaudet appealed, and this case was opened as a result. Subsequent to the opening of this appeal, based on an email from the City to Mr. Beaudet and this office on November 29, 2023, I understand that the City intends to provide a supplemental response to Mr. Beaudet. Accordingly, said response must be provided in a manner consistent with the Public Records Law and its regulations within ten business days. It is preferable to send an electronic copy of the response to this office at pre@sec.state.ma.us. If issues remain unresolved, Mr. Beaudet may appeal the substantive nature of the City’s supplemental response within ninety days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1).
