The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records January 8, 2024 SPR23/3086 Diane Marobella Administrative Assistant Records Access Officer Wayland Public Schools 41 Cochituate Road Wayland, MA 01778 Dear Ms. Marobella: I have received the petition of Sasha Gill appealing the response of the Wayland Public Schools (School) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On December 4, 2023, Ms. Gill requested the following records: [1.] All documents reflecting correspondence sent to and/or from Wayland Public Schools administrators from August 1, 2021 to the present relating to the decision to modify and/ or cancel trips for Wayland Middle School (WMS) students (announced to WMS families on November 28, 2023). [2.] All documents reflecting correspondence to, from and/or among Wayland School Committee members from August 1, 2021 to the present relating to the decision to modify and/or cancel trips for WMS students (announced to WMS families on November 28, 2023). [3.] All documents dated August 1, 2021 to the present reflecting correspondence with the WTA and/or union representatives regarding challenges, issues, complaints, and suggestions for improvement associated with trips for WMS students. [4.] All data, reports, communications with vendors, and properly-redacted incident reports, regardless of when created, related to the planning, scheduling, modification and/or cancellation of trips for WMS students (announced to WMS families on November 28, 2023). The School responded on December 18, 2023, providing a fee estimate. Unsatisfied with the response, Ms. Gill petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR23/3086, was opened as a result. Accordingly, the School is ordered to provide Ms. Gill with said response in a manner consistent with the Public Records Law and its Regulations within 10 business days. A copy of any such response must be provided to this office. It is preferable to send an electronic copy of the response to this office at pre@sec.state.ma.us.
