The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records February 20, 2024 SPR24/0385 Brittany Getchell Records Access Officer Methuen Police Department 90 Hampshire Street Methuen, MA 01844 Dear Ms. Getchell: I have received the petition of Kent DeMott appealing the response of the Methuen Police Department (Department) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On January 15, 2024, Mr. DeMott requested, “…all police records related to ... [an identified individual].” The Department provided a response on February 5, 2024. Unsatisfied with the Department’s response, Mr. DeMott petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR24/0385, was opened. Subsequently, I learned that the Department provided a further response to Mr. DeMott on February 16, 2024. Where this appeal was opened as a result of the Department’s February 5, 2024 response, I will now consider this administrative appeal closed. Mr. DeMott may appeal the substantive nature of the Department’s February 16, 2024 response within ninety (90) days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Sincerely, Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records cc: Kent DeMott One Ashburton Place, Room 1719, Boston, Massachusetts 02108 • (617) 727-2832• Fax: (617) 727-5914 sec.state.ma.us/pre • pre@sec.state.ma.us
