The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records February 23, 2024 SPR24/0401 Thomas Geary Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Operations Lynnfield Public Schools 525 Salem Street Lynnfield, MA 01940 Dear Mr. Geary: I have received the petition of Denise Corbett, on behalf of Attorney Howard L. Greenspan, appealing the response of the Lynnfield Public Schools (School) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On December 22, 2023, Ms. Corbett requested the following: [1.] Any and all documents relating to complaints, charges or concerns of any and all persons including but not limited to any and all Town of Lynnfield officials including School Committee members which relate in any way to the performance of the Superintendent of Schools from July 2023 to present. [2.] Copies of all emails, text messages, social media posts, or any physical or electronic communications received by or exchanged between or among, past or present Lynnfield School Committee members concerning, discussing, or referencing the performance or behavior of [a named individual]… from July 2023 to present. [3.] Copies of all telephone or cell phone records and bills listing any and all incoming or outgoing calls, texts, emails, or other electronic form of communication among or between past or present Lynnfield School Committee members, whether personally owned or municipally or school department issued from July 2023 to the present [4.] Copies of the minutes of the executive session held on December 12, 2023. The School responded on January 9, 2024. Unsatisfied with the response, Ms. Corbett petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR24/0401, was opened as a result. Thomas Geary SPR24/0401 Page 2 February 23, 2024 It is my understanding that the School intends on providing a further response to Ms. Corbett to address her records request. Accordingly, the School is ordered to provide Ms. Corbett with said response in a manner consistent with this order, the Public Records Law and its Regulations within ten (10) business days. A copy of any such response must be provided to this office. It is preferable to send an electronic copy of the response to this office at pre@sec.state.ma.us.
