Contracts & Compliance Associate Office of Management University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School 333 South Street Shrewsbury, MA 01545 Dear Attorney Newton: I have received the petition of Elise Lambert, of the Committee for Public Counsel Services, appealing the response of the University of Massachusetts, Chan Medical School (School) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On February 1, 2024, Ms. Lambert requested, “[a]ll findings related to submissions by the Department of Correction on [an identified individual] from January 1, 2023 to present.” Prior Appeal The requested records were the subject of a prior appeal. See SPR24/0824 Determination of the Supervisor of Records (March 29, 2024). In my March 29th determination, I learned that the School provided a further response to Ms. Lambert on March 28, 2024. Unsatisfied with the School’s response, Ms. Lambert petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR24/0988, was opened as a result. It is my understanding that the School intends on providing a supplemental response to Ms. Lambert. Accordingly, the School is ordered to provide Ms. Lambert with said response in a manner consistent with the Public Records Law and its Regulations within 10 business days. A copy of any such response must be provided to this office. It is preferable to send an electronic copy of the response to this office at pre@sec.state.ma.us. Ms. Lambert may appeal the substantive nature of the School’s response within ninety days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1).
