The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records April 16, 2024 SPR24/1002 Shawn A. Williams, Esq. Records Access Officer Boston Police Department 1 City Hall Square Boston, MA 02201 Dear Attorney Williams: I have received the petition of Mass Accountability Network (“requestor”) appealing the response of the Boston Police Department (Department) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66 § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On February 22, 2024, the requestor sought, “…all body camera footage from [an identified officer] … of her trespassing someone from state property at the Melnea Cass Recreation Center at 120 MLK way … between the times of 13:00 and 14:00 she was in the traffic enforcement vehicle with the number of 5523.” The Department provided a response on April 1, 2024. Unsatisfied with the Department’s response, the requestor petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR24/1002, was opened as a result. Subsequently, I learned that the Department provided a further response to the requestor on April 8, 2024. Where this appeal was opened as a result of the Department’s April 1st response, I will now consider this administrative appeal closed. The requestor may appeal the substantive nature of the Department’s April 8th response within ninety (90) days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Sincerely, Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records cc: Mass Accountability Network One Ashburton Place, Room 1719, Boston, Massachusetts 02108 • (617) 727-2832• Fax: (617) 727-5914 sec.state.ma.us/pre • pre@sec.state.ma.us
