The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records May 8, 2024 SPR24/1258 David Shapiro, Esq. Deputy City Solicitor City of Somerville 93 Highland Avenue Somerville, MA 02143 Dear Attorney Shapiro: I have received the petition of Melody Anderson appealing the response of the City of Somerville (City) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Ms. Anderson requested specific incident reports and 911 calls from the City. The City responded on March 21, and March 22, 2024, providing numerous responsive records in redacted form. Unsatisfied with the City’s responses, Ms. Anderson appealed, and this case was opened as a result. Subsequent to the opening of this appeal, I learned that the City provided a supplemental response by email to Ms. Anderson and this office on May 3, 2024. As this appeal was opened based on the City’s March 21st and March 22nd responses, I will now consider this administrative appeal closed. If unresolved issues remain, Ms. Anderson may further appeal the substantive nature of the City’s May 3rd response within ninety (90) days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Sincerely, Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records cc: Melody Anderson One Ashburton Place, Room 1719, Boston, Massachusetts 02108 • (617) 727-2832 • Fax: (617) 727-5914 sec.state.ma.us/pre • pre@sec.state.ma.us
