The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records May 13, 2024 SPR24/1402 Shawn A. Williams, Esq. Records Access Officer City of Boston 1 City Hall Square, Room 615 Boston, MA 02201 Dear Attorney Williams: I have received the petition of Yisbert Lara appealing the nonresponse of the City of Boston (City) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On April 4, 2024, Mr. Lara requested “… the total cost to obtain only the ‘1992 pages of documents [regarding the murder of an identified individual]’ that are in possession of the BPD.” Claiming to not yet have received responsive records, Mr. Lara petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR24/1402, was opened as a result. Subsequently, I learned that the City provided Mr. Lara with a response dated May 9, 2024. Where the basis of this appeal was opened as a result of the City’s lack of a written response, I will now consider this administrative appeal closed. Mr. Lara may appeal the substantive nature of the City’s response within ninety (90) days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Sincerely, Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records cc: Yisbert Lara One Ashburton Place, Room 1719, Boston, Massachusetts 02108 • (617) 727-2832• Fax: (617) 727-5914 sec.state.ma.us/pre • pre@sec.state.ma.us
