Assistant District Attorney Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office One Bulfinch Place Boston, MA 02114 Dear Attorney Doherty: I have received the petition of Dexter Van Zile appealing the nonresponse of the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office (Office) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On May 1, 2024, Mr. Van Zile requested, “any information you can legally provide as to why the following cases against [an identified individual] were dropped by the DA’s Office.” Claiming to not yet have received responsive records, Mr. Van Zile petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR24/1546, was opened as a result. Subsequently, I learned that the Office intends on providing a response to Mr. Van Zile. Accordingly, The Office is ordered to provide Mr. Van Zile with said response in accordance with the Public Records Law, its Regulations and this order within ten business days. A copy of any such response must be provided to this office. It is preferable to send an electronic copy of the response to this office at pre@sec.state.ma.us. Mr. Van Zile may appeal the substantive nature of the Office’s response within ninety days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1).
