The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records June 4, 2024 SPR24/1609 Kate Silvia Director of Communications Executive Office of Public Safety & Security Department of Correction 50 Maple Street, Suite 3 Milford, MA 01757 Dear Ms. Silvia: I have received the petition of Joshua Carrier appealing the response of the Department of Correction (Department) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On May 8, 2024, Mr. Carrier requested “Property Committee meeting minutes for the 2nd quarter was held between April-May 2024; and all music committee meeting minutes that was conducted from Jan 2023 to present date and all documents submitted in those meetings.” On May 15, 2024, the Department provided Mr. Carrier with a response, including a portion of the responsive records. Unsatisfied with the Department’s response, Mr. Carrier petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR24/1609, was opened as a result. Subsequent to the opening of this appeal, I learned the Department provided Mr. Carrier with a supplemental response on May 30, 2024. Where this appeal was opened as a result of the Department’s May 15th response, I will now consider this administrative appeal closed. Mr. Carrier may appeal the substantive nature of the Department’s May 30th response within ninety calendar days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Sincerely, Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records cc: Joshua Carrier One Ashburton Place, Room 1719, Boston, Massachusetts 02108 • (617) 727-2832• Fax: (617) 727-5914 sec.state.ma.us/pre • pre@sec.state.ma.us
