Burke Records Access Officer Malden Police Department 800 Eastern Avenue Malden, MA 02148 Dear Ms. Burke: I have received the petition of Avery Emison appealing the nonresponse of the Malden Police Department to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On April 22, 2024, Mr. Emison requested the following: [1.] A list of all police officers employed by Malden Police Department since May 7, 2021, with the following information: [1.] Employee Identification number [2.] Full name [3.] Badge number [4.] Rank [5.] Status (i.e, “active” or “suspended with pay”) [6.] Date the Individual joined the Malden Police Department [7.] Date the indivudal left the Malden Police Department (if applicable) [2.] Any existing documentation on how the Malden Police Department assigns and tracks officer ID numbers… including changes to these ID numbers over time. Claiming to not yet have received responsive records, Mr. Emison petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR24/1659, was opened as a result. Despite being notified of the opening of this appeal, it remains unclear whether the Department has provided a response. Accordingly, the Department is ordered to provide Mr. Emison with a response to his request, provided in a manner consistent with this order, the Public Records Law and its Regulations within ten (10) business days.
