The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records June 14, 2024 SPR24/1691 Kayla J. Venckauskas, Esq. Assistant City Solicitor City of Brockton – Law Department 43 Crescent Street Brockton, MA 02301 Dear Attorney Venckauskas: I have received the petition of Lesly Jean-Paul appealing the response of the City of Brockton (City) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On May 1, 2024, Ms. Jean-Paul requested, “all information including but not limited to reports, text and email messages, internal communications and any decision making regulations or policies used for the ‘sewage back up’ at [an identified location].” The City responded on May 14, 2024, providing responsive records. Unsatisfied with the City’s response, Ms. Jean-Paul petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR24/1691, was opened as a result. Subsequently, I learned that the City provided a supplemental response by email to Ms. Jean-Paul and this office on June 6, 2024. Where this appeal was opened based on the City’s May 14th response, I will now consider this administrative appeal closed. Ms. Jean-Paul may appeal the substantive nature of the City’s June 6th response within ninety days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Sincerely, Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records cc: Lesly Jean-Paul One Ashburton Place, Room 1719, Boston, Massachusetts 02108 • (617) 727-2832 • Fax: (617) 727-5914 sec.state.ma.us/pre • pre@sec.state.ma.us
