Records Access Officer University of Massachusetts President’s Office One Beacon Street, 31st Floor Boston, MA 02108 Dear Attorney Flaherty: I have received the petition of Colman Herman appealing the nonresponse of the University of Massachusetts President’s Office (Office) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On May 7, 2024, Mr. Herman requested the following records: [1.] Records of all the expenses that [an identified individual] incurred in his capacity as managing director of the Mount Ida campus of the University of Massachusetts Amherst for the period May 1, 2023 to the present. This includes, but is not limited to, the following… [2.] The written employee reimbursement policy of the Mount Ida campus of the University of Massachusetts Amherst[.] Claiming to not yet have received a response, Mr. Herman petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR24/1695, was opened as a result. Subsequently, I learned that a representative from the Office intends on providing a written response to Mr. Herman. Accordingly, the Office is ordered to provide Mr. Herman with said response in accordance with the Public Records Law, its Regulations and this order within ten business days. A copy of any such response must be provided to this office. It is preferable to send an electronic copy of the response to this office at pre@sec.state.ma.us. Mr. Herman appeal the substantive nature of the Office’s response within ninety days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1).
