Box 807 Middleton, MA 01949 Dear Ms. Grosky: I have received the petition of Franklin D. Castano appealing the nonresponse of the Essex County Sheriff’s Department (Department) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On April 22, 2024, Mr. Castano requested “[a] complete copy of my visitor entry log book for all the persons that visit me (i.e., attorneys, friends and families) while [I] was incarcerated there since April of 2014 through September of 2015.” Claiming to not yet have received responsive records, Mr. Castano petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR24/1786, was opened as a result. Subsequently, I learned that the Department provided a response to Mr. Castano on June 21, 2024. Where this appeal was opened as a result of the Department’s lack of a written response, I will now consider this administrative appeal closed.
