The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records July 23, 2024 SPR24/1955 Courtney Madden, Esq. Senior Advisor & Counsel Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office 200 West Street Dedham, MA 02027 Dear Attorney Madden: I have received the petition of Joe Sciacca, of WHDH 7News, appealing the response of the Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office (Office) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On July 2, 2024, Mr. Sciacca requested the following: [1.] Visitor logs or other documentation showing all individuals who have visited [a named individual] from August 1, 2023 to present including any identifying information and the date, time, duration and location of the visit. [2.] Call logs or other documentation showing all telephone calls received by and made by [a named individual] during the same period listed above, including any identifying information as listed above. The Office provided a response on July 9, 2024, providing a fee estimate. Unsatisfied with the Office’s response, Mr. Sciacca petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR24/1955, was opened as a result. It is my understanding that the Office intends on providing a further response to Mr. Sciacca to address the records request. Accordingly, the Office is ordered to provide Mr. Sciacca with said response in a manner consistent with this order, the Public Records Law and its Regulations within ten (10) business days. A copy of any such response must be provided to this office. It is preferable to send an electronic copy of the response to this office at pre@sec.state.ma.us. Mr. Sciacca may appeal the substantive nature of the Office’s response within ninety (90) days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1).
