The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records July 24, 2024 SPR24/1989 Jeremy Saint Laurent, Esq. First Associate City Solicitor Records Access Officer City of Springfield 36 Court Street, Room 210 Springfield, MA 01103 Dear Attorney Saint Laurent: I have received the petition of Todd Wallack, of WBUR, appealing the response of the City of Springfield (City) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On May 3, 2024, Mr. Wallack requested, “[a] copy of your log of public records requests for the police department since Jan. 1, 2019. If your log is only readily available for a more recent period, please provide the log for that more recent period instead.” The City responded on June 21, 2024, providing a fee estimate. Unsatisfied with the response, Mr. Wallack petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR24/1989, was opened as a result. Subsequent to the opening of this appeal, the City provided a further response on July 12, 2024. Subsequently, I learned that the City provided an additional response on July 23, 2024. Where this appeal was opened as a result of the City’s June 21, 2024 response, I will now consider this administrative appeal closed. Mr. Wallack may appeal the substantive nature of the City’s July 23rd response within ninety (90) days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1).
