The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records August 21, 2024 SPR24/2235 Michele L. Jarvis Executive Assistant to the Superintendent Northampton Public Schools 212 Main Street, 2nd Floor Northampton, MA 01060 Dear Ms. Jarvis: I have received the petition of Melissa Maciborski appealing the response of the Northampton Public Schools (School) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On July 2, 2024, Ms. Maciborski requested, “[a]ll emails and official correspondence for the following individuals regarding the subject of the NASE no confidence vote in the superintendent from 6/2/24-6/30/24 . . .” The School responded on July 23, 2024. Unsatisfied with the response, Ms. Maciborski petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR24/2235, was opened as a result. Subsequently, while this appeal was pending, the School provided a supplemental response on August 8, 2024. Based on a telephone conversation between a Public Records Division staff attorney and a School representative, it is my understanding that the School intends on providing a subsequent response to Ms. Maciborski. Accordingly, the School is ordered to provide Ms. Maciborski with said response to her request in a manner consistent with this order, the Public Records Law and its Regulations within 10 business days. It is preferable to send an electronic copy of the response to this office at pre@sec.state.ma.us. Ms. Maciborski may appeal the substantive nature of the School’s response within ninety days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Sincerely, Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records cc: Melissa Maciborski One Ashburton Place, Room 1719, Boston, Massachusetts 02108 • (617) 727-2832• Fax: (617) 727-5914 sec.state.ma.us/pre • pre@sec.state.ma.us
