Casey Police Lieutenant Medford Police Department 100 Main Street Medford, MA 01255 Dear Lieutenant Casey: On August 12, 2024, this office received your petition on behalf of the Medford Police Department (Department) seeking permission to charge for time spent segregating or redacting responsive records. G. L. c. 66, § 10(c); G. L. c. 66, § 10(d)(iv); see also 950 C.M.R. 32.06(4). As required by law, it is my understanding that the Department furnished a copy of the petition to the requestor, Jessa Genterone. G. L. c. 66, § 10(c); G. L.c. 66, § 10(d)(iv)(2). On August 2, 2024, Ms. Genterone requested body worn camera footage of a specified June 18, 2024 incident. Subsequent to the opening of this petition, in an email to this office on August 15, 2024, Ms. Genterone stated, “[w]e agree to the cost of the request documents.” In light of the above, it is unnecessary to opine on the Department’s petition for permission to charge for time spent segregating or redacting responsive records.
