The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records August 28, 2024 SPR24/2311 Allison Mondello Records Access Officer Massachusetts Department of State Police 470 Worcester Road Framingham, MA 01702 Dear Ms. Mondello: I have received the petition of Dan Griffin appealing the response of the Department of State Police (Department) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On May 8, 2024, Mr. Griffin requested “[a]ll SP 637 (individual officer) forms for all highway safety grant initiatives worked from 2015‐2018 for [a named individual] assigned to Troop A. All corresponding radio logs (excel spreadsheet) for [a named individual] for the dates worked re: above request.” Prior Appeal This request was the subject of a prior appeal. See SPR24/1732 Determination of the Supervisor of Records (June 24, 2024). In my August 24th determination, I found that it was unclear why the Department had not provided the responsive records. The Department provided a response on August 14, 2024, providing records. Unsatisfied with the Department’s response, Mr. Griffin petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR24/2311, was opened as a result. Subsequently, I learned that a representative from the Department intends on providing a further response to Mr. Griffin to address his records request. Accordingly, the Department is ordered to provide Mr. Griffin with said response in accordance with the Public Records Law, its Regulations and this order within ten business days. A copy of any such response must be provided to this office. It is preferable to send an electronic copy of the response to this office at pre@sec.state.ma.us. Mr. Griffin may appeal the substantive nature of the Department’s response within ninety days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1).
