The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records August 22, 2024 SPR24/2348 Kate Silvia Records Access Officer Department of Corrections 50 Maple Street Milford, MA 01757 Dear Ms. Silvia: I have received the petition of Darius Gibson appealing the nonresponse of the Department of Correction (Department) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On July 21, 2024, Mr. Gibson requested the following: [1] Documentation stating how long recorded inmate calls are stored for. [2] Documentation stating if an inmate calls the IPS hotline or PREA hotline their name shows up on caller ID. [3] Dates the following officers became officers: [identified individuals]. [4] Documentation as to the number of complains that have been made against the following officer: [an identified individual]. [5] Redacted copies of all complaints made against the following officers: [identified individuals]. Claiming to not yet have received responsive records, Mr. Gibson petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR24/2348, was opened as a result. Subsequently, I learned that the Department provided Mr. Gibson with a response dated August 9, 2024. Where this appeal was opened as a result of the Department’s lack of a written response, I will now consider this administrative appeal closed. Mr. Gibson may appeal the substantive nature of the Department’s response within ninety (90) days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1).
