First Associate City Solicitor City of Springfield 36 Court Street, Room 210 Springfield, MA 01103 Dear Attorney Saint Laurent: I have received the petition of Jake Hentoff, Esq., on behalf of Jason Laughlin, both of the Boston Globe, appealing the response of the City of Springfield (City) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On September 10, 2024, Mr. Laughlin requested, “[a]ll calls for service and police incident reports associated with [a specified address] in Indian Orchard from Jan. 1, 2014 to August 30, 2024.” The City responded on September 19, 2024. Unsatisfied with the response, Attorney Hentoff petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR24/2836, was opened as a result. Subsequently, I learned that the City provided a further response to Attorney Hentoff on October 30, 2024. Where this appeal was opened as a result of the City’s September 19, 2024 response, I will now consider this administrative appeal closed. Attorney Hentoff may appeal the substantive nature of the City’s October 30th response within ninety (90) days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1).
