The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records November 4, 2024 SPR24/2908 Scott Carpenter Superintendent Monomy Regional School District 425 Crowell Road Chatham, MA 02633 Dear Superintendent Carpenter: I have received the petition of Laura Ortiz appealing the nonresponse of the Monomy Regional School District (District) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On September 22, 2024, Ms. Ortiz requested the following records: [1] Copy of all “Second Step Curriculum” and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum for 4th graders for the 2024-2025 school year[;] [2] Copy of all “Second Step Curriculum” and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Surveys for 4th graders that has been given or will be given during the 2024-2025 school year[;] [3] Copy of any “Opt out” forms for the “Second Step Curriculum” and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum or surveys for the 2024-2025 school year and any general notices distributed to parents[;] [4] Copy of any Opt Out Policies of the Monomy Regional School District regarding “Second Step Curriculum” and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum or surveys for the 2024-2025 school year. Claiming to not yet have received responsive records, Ms. Ortiz petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR24/2908, was opened as a result. Despite being notified of the opening of this appeal, it remains unclear whether the District has provided a response. Accordingly, the District is ordered to provide Ms. Ortiz with a response to her request, provided in a manner consistent with this order, the Public Records Law and its Regulations within ten (10) business days.
